Watch For Flying Bats

June 30th, 2008 · No Comments

This past Friday, Pie and I were sitting around talking about how we’ve noticed a lot of baseball bats breaking this year. Little did I know that Jim Salisbury would have a story in Sunday’s Inquierer about that very topic. It seems that baseball bats are shattering all too often lately.
Here I was thinking that a baseball […]

Pissed Jeans in the New York Times

February 18th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I saw some noisey fucked up rock + roll bands this past weekend. One of those bands, we’ll call them ****** Jeans, would have probably been my bet for Least Likely Philly* Band to be Featured in the New York Times. I think they got at least one thing wrong in the article […]

Straight-Edge Revenge

February 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Lawrence Dugan Sr. left Delaware County Court yesterday a free man, having already served the one-month sentence he received for nearly stabbing his heroin-addicted son to death…”I went nuts. I started hacking at him and screaming, ‘You ruined my life!’ ” Dugan told Daily News columnist Jill Porter when she visited him at the Delaware […]

Hey, Just What Philly Needs - Little Kids Set Tripping

January 24th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Philly has a pretty long history with street gangs, so kids taking dumb neighborhood pride to ridiculous heights is nothing new. What is new, however, is the expanded presence of “National” gangs like the Latin Kings, Crips and Bloods. It isn’t enough that people are getting capped in Philly for relatively minor disses - now someone can catch […]

Bloated Philly Government Agency That Nobody Likes Gets Television Spotlight

December 11th, 2007 · No Comments

This is kind of insane.  Yesterday, A&E announced the Jan. 8 premiere of Parking Wars a 20-episode series that looks at the men and women who, depending on your point of view, either help keep our streets clear or make our lives miserable -  the ticket-writers, booters and tow-truck drivers of the Philadelphia Parking Authority.
My favorite […]

David Simon of ‘The Wire’ (aka - the best show on television) Keeps It Real in the New Yorker

October 25th, 2007 · No Comments

HBO’s series The Wire really is the best show on television. The final episode of season four was absolutely heart breaking. I can’t wait for the last season to start. This week the New Yorker has a great profile on the producer, writer and creator of the show, David Simon.

Canadian Band Stars to Sean Agnew “Meow! Meow! Meow!”

October 16th, 2007 · 3 Comments

I kinda hate jacking from BCO but if I don’t then whatever…According to a post Mr. Ardmore made on BCO, the critically acclaimed Canadian indiepop band Stars asked for an additional security detail for their upcoming Philly show - specifically because of the number of homicides in Philadelphia this year! What a bunch of […]

Lebanon’s Drug Valley

September 20th, 2007 · No Comments

Here’s some more self-promotion with three new episodes on Lebanon, via VBS. This three-part series is about drugs and Hezbollah, with some gypsies, a disgusting camel (seriously one of the more traumatizing things I’ve ever had to edit) and a blown up bridge for good measure.

If you’re suffering from a case of the Mondays…

September 17th, 2007 · No Comments

… then I have something which will surely make you feel more depressed. I’ve been working hard editing a documentary series for VBS.tv (you know, Vice Magazine’s online video project) about the war last summer between Hezbollah and Israel. This project is epic– I’m cutting about 20 episodes (not to mention editing Israel’s side of […]

September 4th, 2007 · 1 Comment

9 Murders in the past 4 days. Way to go Philadelphia, you really know how to have a good time. Keep up the good work. Also Saturday night I was right around the corner from the Broad and Reed murder and my friend walked past the medical guys examining the body, THIS SHIT IS REAL

Saverio’s World, or More Giant Balls

August 28th, 2007 · 3 Comments

There has been much ado about the hit Sav Rocca was served by Antwan Barnes. Youtube videos, internet messageboards, etc have lit up with the footage and plenty of commentary about it being an “unnecessary hit”, a “cheapshot” and the like. But less people are taking the time to find out Sav’s take on this.

Straight Edge Goes Commercial

August 3rd, 2007 · 6 Comments

So I’ve been searching the web for awhile now for footage of Straight Edge in the news media. I’m specifically looking for the 48 Hours and 20/20 reports from the mid 90’s and the local Philly news affiliate coverage (I remember they were in the now long gone C.I. Records store off
South Street) that […]

Today in Mullenstan: More Guns for the Middle East!

July 31st, 2007 · 4 Comments

The war pigs Bush administration has recently announced a genious plan to sell billions and billions and billions of dollars worth of weapons to our good friends in the Middle East: Israel (but definitely NOT Palestine), the royal family of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. Apparently, these countries […]

Amerikkka’s Army recruiting in the Arcade

July 25th, 2007 · 1 Comment

This should really be pissing people off but no one even cares. The United States Army is putting it’s FPS game “America’s Army” in arcades around the country to recruit your children grown men to fight for the rich white guys in charge. Because you know war is just a game and no one ever […]

FREE THE WEST MEMPHIS 3!

So in the form of a text message from my ex-girlfriend, I was infromed last week that new evidence has come to light in the infamous 1993 West Memphis murders . This isn’t exactly breaking news being a week old, but cut me some slack. I just got my internet turned back on. Anyhow, for […]

Good Times For A Change…

July 25th, 2007 · 9 Comments

Last night, Minirich and I ventured down tha shore to see The Man in Atlantic City on the last night of his U.S. tour. I’ve never seen Morrissey before so I wasn’t fully prepared for the weirdness.
