Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are at the Wachovia Center. I saw them last night and it was awesome. 8pm. $75-$95.
The Khyber has a benefit for an excellent cause: Alex’s Lemonade Stand Benefit with The Cobbs, Dark Horse & The Carousels, AR Duvall, It’s A King Thing, and An American Chinese. Plus, DJs upstairs. 8pm. $10 gets you in both upstairs and downstairs.

M83 and A Sunny Day in Glasgow are at the Sanctuary section of the First Unitarian Church. I’m absolutely loving the newest M83 record. This show is gonna be good. All Ages. $12.

It’s going to be soooo hot out on Saturday. You’ve go two different all day affairs to choose from.
First up, the completely free, completely great Best Fest in Clark Park with L’ananas, Drums Like Machine Guns, Soft People, Serpents of Wisdom, Crestmont Steppers, Club Lifestyle, Beatjams, Vice Versa, City Wide Specials, Kurt Vile, Stinking Lizaveta, The Chimeras, The Extraordinaires. 1pm-7pm. Free.

Or, you could spend some money and head to Festival Pier for The Roots Picnic starring The Roots with Gnarls Barkley, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, DeerHoof, The Cool Kids, Diplo, Esperanza and many more! 2pm. $49.50.
If you somehow didn’t get enough of Kurt Vile at Best Fest then head to Johnny Brenda’s to see him play a show later that night with The War on Drugs, and Ape School. 8pm. $10.

F.O.D.! You cannot front on a band that had represented Philadelphia hardcore punk since 1982! They are playing a basement show with Brody’s Militia and SPG at the Puppy Mill. All Ages. 7pm. $5-$7 sliding scale.

Sunday is also gonna be super hot. Cruise on over to 12th & Spring Garden for the Mad Decent Block Party. It’s going to be a real-deal block party with DJs in the street, BBQ, a dunk tank, a dude dressed up like Elmo, a moon bounce etc. It’s seriously going to be awesome. All hail the inventive mind of Diplo!
Later that night, The Breeders are at the TLA. Their new record is pretty deece. 8pm. $21/$23.
