I just got back from seeing Tragedy at the First Unitarian Church. I’m covered in sweat and crust-punk neu-smell. I’m tired/ I want some pizza. Yet still I give you the weekend picks…

FRIDAY

GO SEE IRON MAN!!! 

This Friday is the opening of Being True in Philadelphia at the 222gallery. A photography exhibition curated by Emma Reeves and Aaron Rose, Being True includes photos that capture the energy and culture of American youth that has shaped the Nike Dunk since it was created in 1986.

After that head to Planet Mollie (1019 S 47th St) in West Philly and check out the homeboy Berdan’s new band Drunkdriver (mysanthropic noise punk. parts unknown records) with Birth Control (three chord madness.members of pissed jeans and bunny brains), Distress Signal (formerly the sound of failure. balls out emotive hardcore.first show!) and Fresh Meat (members of carpenter ant do the brainbombs!) $5

after that Go check out Andy Pry and company dropping Ibiza bangers with at Medusa.

SATURDAY

GO SEE IRON MAN!!! 

The Kills are playing Johnny Brenda’s. Let’s be honest, that band sucks. 9pm. $12..

The Starlight Ballroom has a crazy metalcore show with Converge, The Red Chord, Genghis Tron, and Coliseum. All Ages. 7pm. $15.

Here’s a weird awesome one: St. Mary’s Church (3916 Locust Walk on the Penn Campus) has Stars of the Lid and Christopher Willits. All Ages. 7:30pm. $20.

And Dim Sum DJs Mandip, Gordon Bombay and Black Locust play booty bass, hip-hop, r&b and bhangra at the Raven Lounge. 10pm-2am. Free.

The Sorted 10 Year Anniversary Party is at the Barbary. Do whatever common people do.

Medusa Loung has Hurrah with special guest Billy Werner and resident party czars Shawn Ryan & Chris Rogy. 10pm-2am. Free.
