I’ve been neglecting FV for far too long, but the truth is that I got tired of trashing tattoos. Sure, it’s funny to laugh at awful tattoos, but after I was at it for a while, it started to get depressing. There were just so many of them.
So now I’m changing my game plan and am highlighting awesome tattoos. The tattoos I feature may still be terrible in one way or another (execution, over-the-top-ness, etc.) but they make me smile.
The first installment is inspired by my latest tattoo.
So this is my new tattoo. It’s still healing so the pictures aren’t the best. It’s inspired in part by a quote from the X-Files episode Jose Chung’s From Outer Space in which a young nerd, Blaine, is asked to help out on a dangerous mission. He bravely says, “Well, I didn’t spend all those years playing dungeons and dragons and not learn a little something about courage.”
… and it’s true. I am still, to this day, inspired by science fiction and gaming- these things remind me that people are smart, courageous, inquisitive, heroic, selfless.
And while I may be the first and only person to get a d20 tattoo partly because of the X-Files, I am not the first to get a d20 tattoo. Here are some other awesome people:
This one’s my favorite because of the different colors.

this one is rad too! I remember seeing another d20 tattoo on a hand, but I can’t find it now, which is a bummer.

and the die on this one are awesome!

Okay I don’t understand the “bitch” in this- I find it offensive and unnecessary, but whatever. I think it’s on his foot, too!

I think the “e” is in smushed in the banner at the end, like an afterthought!
