The weekend is here. You’ve got dance parties, punk shows, me skipping out on my own punk rock dance party to go see Lewis Black in Atlantic City and lots of other crazy stuff. Let’s get to it…
Friday

It’s my birthday and there’s nothing that I like more than a DIY punk show. With that in mind, you should head to the Circle of Hope (1125 S. Broad Street) for a proper punk show featuring: Pink Razors (RVA pop punk), Amateur Party (Philly punx!), Erin Tobey (RVA), and Kick Rocks (new Philly band - their first show!). Seriously, this is going to be fun! All ages. 7pm. $5.
Bob Mould is at the Troc. I’ve never seen Bob Mould yet I really like Husker Du and Sugar and his first two solo records. All ages. 7pm. $18.50/$20.
Johnny Brenda’s has Black Lips with Mr. Quintron and Miss Pussycat. Honestly, the Black Lips are OK and all but - MR. QUINTRON AND MISS PUSSYCAT! Will Snicklefritz the guitar playing turtle show up?? 9:30pm. $13.

Danceparty types, you’ve got to choose from DJ Skipmode absolutely destroying the Upstairs of the Khyber. 9pm. Free.
Or Let Me Ride at Fluid with residents Art Cuebik, DJ Breakdown, and Illy MC. This month they have special guest DJ Apt-One of Philadelpyinz. The Philadelphyinz have a new mixtape out - download it today. 10pm-2am. $5.
Saturday

The Khyber is totally wild on Saturday night. Downstairs, 215 Hip Hop Presents Beats & Rhymes: A Producer’s Showcase -with a whole gang of people making beats and spitting rhymes. 9pm. $10.

England Belongs To Twee returns Upstairs at the Khyber featuring the lovely and talented Mr. Mike Mckee. Mike brings you theee finest in indie-pop, riot grrrl, twee and other such sweetness AND simultaneously asks “Where have all the bootboys gone?” Regrettably, EB2T DJ partner Mr. Labuda will be unavailable so the crew has enlisted as guest deejay selectors the Boss Reggae coalition of the willing…DJs Sweet & Aggro, Marvelous Hagler, DJ Damon and Danna from the Philly Reggae Girls. Let’s call it England Belongs To Jah. Mash down Babylon! 9pm. Free.
Sunday
Tritone has a benefit show for Professor Griff of Public Enemy. It features Wise Intelligent from Poor Righteous Teachers. I don’t know why Griff needs a benefit. Hopefully he hasn’t said anything inflammatory lately. 9pm. $10.
