Sean Finnegan (of Void) Passes Away At 43
Sean Finnegan, the drummer from the early D.C. hardcore band Void and an original member of the Dischord family, passed away on Wednesday January 30th of an apparent heart attack, he was 43. Sean played in Void while they we’re active from 1980-1983 and was recently working on the set of the HBO production, The Wire.
I remember the first time that I heard Void was on a cassete taped copy of the seminal Dischord compilation Flex Your Head. Compared to most bands on the comp, Void were a screaming mess. You could sense their frustration. To me, they were the best band on the record.
As you can see in that youtube video, Void were absolutely out of control. Sean’s drumming helped to anchor that chaos.
