Philadelphia Weekend Picks!

There’s no real rhyme or reason to it. Some weekends there’s virtually nothing going on and other weekends have toooooo many things going on and it’s impossible to choose what you would actually want to go to.  This is one of those too many weekends…choose wisely!

FRIDAY

Dear Rock n’ Roll Fans, Johnny Brenda’s has a pretty hype show on Friday night.  They’ve got: The Teeth, Gildon Works, and the Future Tips. The show starts at 9pm. It’s $10 and 21+

Upstairs at the Khyber features another And.Dim.Sum Spin The Bottle event. Go Gordon Bombay! 9pm. Free! 21+

Philadelphyinz are throwing a special event at Fluid with guest DJ Tittsworth. The PYinz guys are dope on their own but, on the real, Tittsworth is a certified KILLER. Plus, this jam is absolutely free before 11:30 pm if you are on the list - so, get on it here, $5 after 11:30. 21+.

The Troc has a kind of weird one tonight - Turbostation 2: Packed In & Spaced Out with DJ Diamond Kuts, White Ts White Belts, Steven Bloodbath, Shawn Ryan, Strawberry Mansion, Oh Murder Inc. That’s a lotta DJ’s! 9pm. $5.

Attn: skinhead lads and dub scientists, The Barbary has Ten Commandments - reggae, rocksteady & soul with residents Kyle M & Lord Action Wood. Mash down babylon. 10pm. $5. 21+

SATURDAY

Saturday is almost too wild. So much action is going on. The M Room has a deece garagey whatever show with Tough Shits vs. Dark Horse & the Carousals.  9pm. $5. 21+.

Northern Liberties, Slumlord,  and The Spades are at Tritone10pm. 21+.

The Barbary has Emil and Bo Bliz’z new monthly called The Bounce. This month they’ve got Baltimore club legend DJ Scottie B. guesting. 10pm. $5. 21+. 

Yet another Mad Pussy event is at Transit.  This time with Kid Sister, Nick Catchdubs, Dirty Joe South, DJ Sega, Brendan Bring ‘Em and more. This is the after-party for the Akon, Freeways, Beans, A-Trak & Kid Sister show at Solo Nightclub. Guest list and more info available here.

Downstairs at the Khyber has the always excellent 215 Hip Hop Presents: Beats & Rhymes - A Producer’s Showcase. 9pm. $10. 21+.

Mad Decent records presents Glass Candy playing a live set plus the Taxlo DJs (Cullen Stalin, Dave Nada and Simon Phoenix) and a late night set with Low Budget, Diplo and Dave P. at The Mausoleum (go to 12th and Spring Garden and wander around, stupid). $8.

Upstairs at the Khyber has yet another thrilling installment of me and McKee’s super awesome England Belongs to Twee party. This month we’ve got special guest DJ’s Mosurock and Mr. Vacation of the fabled NYC rock DJ duo Cockfight dropping tunes with us so expect some extra doses of rock and psyche and soul to go with those helpings of punk rock and indie-pop. But you already knew that because I already told you, man. 9pm. Free.  21+

SUNDAY

Aye-yo, what is McNulty doing, maaaaan? 9pm. HBO. On yr TV.
