Look, I’d be lying if I said I was really into New Years Eve. I’m not. I think that it’s mostly just boring and I really don’t get what all the fuss is about. I still like to have a good time though and, if I was going out to anything other than the house party that I’m going out to, I’d go to one of these fine (and under-rated) events…

The Loved Ones, Weston, Hey Angel, and Ram & Ox are playing at the North Star Bar. I haven’t seen Weston since the early-to-mid nineties - and, truth be told, last time I saw them it wasn’t so good - but, dude, it’s Weston and I’ve seen them be completely amazing. Couple that with and excellent local band roster that includes my friends Dave “Yes, Brian Adoff is my brother” Adoff and Josh “Yes, Pucho is my brother” Alvarez and you’ve got what is sure to be a fun night with some fine fine local punk rockers. Honestly, what more could you ask for? $10

Unless of course you feel like dancing but you don’t feel like going to Making Time or that thing at the Electric Factory. Never fear because the Family Affair party at Medusa might just be what you are looking for. All disco - all night long! with DJ’s

If you are looking for something different or are looking for something smaller and sweaty with a different style of beats to ring in the new year then this might be the stop for you.  On the real, you gotta admire the DIY chutzpah.

I kinda hate the concept of a nu version of Silk City but, I won’t front their New Years Eve Party with DJs Dozia and Big Rich Medina of Back 2 Basics will be intimate and absolutely ssssssslamming. 10pm.
