Guyz, I’m sorry that I haven’t been around. It’s been a wild week and a half (capping a wild year). I still love you all. Anyway, this is a weirdo weekend because a night after the end of the weekend is New Years Eve.  Still, there’s plenty of fun stuff to do…

FRIDAY
Whoa! Oh man!  Hop into the time machine and head back to the 90’s to withness the almighty Caterpillar play at Johnny Brenda’s with the ever excellent Photon Band and Trolleyvox. Dude, Caterpillar!! 9pm. $8

As psyched as I am for the show at JB’s (and believe me, I’m all ‘Gimme Philly Indie Rock!!!11′ over here) I can’t help but also be excited about the Golden Soundz night at Tritone. I’m like 99.99999% sure that this night is curated by Neal Ramirez - he of The Skywriters/Snowfairies/a gang of other awesome bands - and his friends. Times change and I’m a busy dude so I don’t see Neal around as much but I’d be telling a lie if I didn’t say that I think Neal is one of the best guys in Philadelphia. I miss buying a forty at The Watusi II and then rolling up to The Red Square to catch a pop show but this is the next best thing so get out there to see A Sunny Day is Glasgow, The 500s,  and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. 10pm. $5.

I hope that 2008 is the year that the Seclusiasis crew parties blow up real real big. Get your late 2k7 Seclusiasis fix with their Straight Dope party Upstairs at The Khyber. Expect the rawdog sweaty hip-hop, dancehall and, of course, BASS!  Free!

SATURDAY

On Saturday night, Tritone is going to be wild fun because Sugar Town is back and paired up with and Fuse to present A Night of Lady Rockers and DJs with (the Philly Weekly A-Listed) Lesbians on Ecstacy, Bugs in the Dark, and the Fuse DJs. 9pm. $8.

John Redden is launching a new party called Live Forever at the Barbary. He’ll be djing with Designer Drugs and maybe some other folks. 10pm.

SUNDAY

This Sunday I am going to recommend that you take it ease and rest up because Monday into Tuesday (and probably into Wednesday) is going to be hangover city, baby.  Don’t worry - it’ll be worth it.  Check back on Monday for our special New Years Eve picks.
