Calling all twee kittens - this Saturday night, me and Mike McKee are doing our monthly England Belongs To Twee night at The Khyber.
This month is the annual Christmastime For The Skins edition of EB2T and our special guest DJ is our friend Maria Tessa Sciarrino of WPRB / Plain Parade fame!
Here are some fun facts about Maria:
1. She is from the great state of New Jersey. once i went to some Pop fest near her hometown and The Swirlies covered SSD and all the indiepop nerds were like “WTF!” but i was like “!!!!!”
2. Her parents owned a pizza shop/restaurant. That probably makes her an honorary Pizza Wolf.
3. Once i called her radio show and requested a super obscure NJHC band and she found it and played it. SAND IN THE FACE!
4. She is an EXCELLENT ice skater
5. She got mad at me because i called her Maria Plain Parade (yet she somehow wants me to call her Maria Tesla Pizzeria)
6. I saw The Cardigans in Hoboken. Afterwards i stopped to pee at a rest stop and Jeff Ziga and Andy Nelson attacked me in the mens room. That’s not really about Maria but Plain Parade is named after a Cardigans song. Perhaps she’ll play some lovely swede-pop? 7. I’m pretty sure that she quit drinking the booze but she still likes to drink Cherry Coke.
What the heck is this England Belongs To Twee thing?? Only like theee most fun rock n’ roll DJ night / drunken mess in the entire City of Brotherly Love. .
Head Upstairs at The Khyber Saturday night for Philadelphia’s only monthly dance/DJ night devoted to Oi!, early British punk and indie pop/garage/C86/”twee.” Or, maybe Labuda will play some rocksteady or some soul. So, there’s something for meatheads and milksops alike. Plus, it’s FREE!
Calvin Johnson is innocent, OK!

Re: Twee Kitten
I’ve finally found what I’m going to do with winter break: create twee versions of Free Kitten songs.

1. twee
Something that is sweet, almost to the point of being sickeningly so. As a derogatory descriptive, it means something that is affectedly dainty or quaint, or is way too sentimental.
