I have a bit of a cold today so I’m not going to screw around and list eight million events. This time you are pretty much only getting those things that are my absolute pure picks for what I would go to if I didn’t have a cold. Everything else….pssssssh!
FRIDAY

I know that Jens Lekman is playing at the U.Church and that will probably be a good show but I am really digging this Dark Horse & The Carousels band so I’d rather see them tonight. They are playing at Tritone with The Get Quick, Mondo Topless (who I didn’t even know were still a band) and The Griefs. It looks like a garage punk rockin’ fun time. $7. 10pm. 21+

Again, I know that Click! is tonight but I’m telling you - the Seclusiasis crew are sooooo serious. They are back Upstairs at the Khyber with the 3rd annual Straight Dope Halloween Phreak Out. Don’t front on this, you get a sluttiest costume contest (whaaaaat?!), $2 vampire shots all night (whaaaaat?!) and the Seclusiasis bols Dev 79, Stumble, BD1982 putting the bass in your face. Plus, they’ve got special guest DJ Andy Pry from NYC (actually from Philly but he lives in NY now) representing for The Rapture’s Throne Of Blood label will ve providing some tunes and No Carrier will also be on hand with some horrific 8-bit visuals. I’m telling you, this night is gonna be AWESOME. Free! 21+
SATURDAY

Bleached Black is always a fun time but this time it’s going to be extra fun because instead of just the regular old killers (Mike Tee, Andrew Gaspar, Kyle M and Jeffrey) you also get the special guest Designer Drugs dropping bombs. Check the new Designer Drugs mix before you head out - it will get you shaking and popping. 10pm-2am. Free.

Either before or after (or both!) Bleached Black you should head to Exhumed Films 24 hour 10th anniversary film festival. It runs from noon on Saturday straight through til noon on Sunday at the International House (3701 Chestnut St.). The whole thing will probably end up being about THIRTEEN films in a row! Tickets are $20 but that’s less than a dollar an hour, dude. And you don’t have to actually stay in the theater the entire time…all audience members will receive a wristband and also a handstamp to verify that you have paid your $20 so that if you go out for a while and come back later, you’ll have proof that you have already paid & will be allowed re-entry. Here’s something else that is cool - I can’t tell you what film are playing! Word is that the lineup will be a combination of films they’ve shown before and other titles they’ve never screened so, a healthy dose of fan favoritesand exciting rarities. You’ll get a little of everything: zombies, slashers, classic monsters, exploitation, extreme gore and extreme campiness. How can you not love that?
SUNDAY

Remember hardcore matinees? I do! And when I was young it seemed like every single matinee featured Mouthpiece, Lifetime and Ressurrection. Floorpunch is a band from the 90’s that features at least one dude that was a member of one of those three bands playing youth crew style hardcore and they are reuniting to play this benefit matinee (and a night show, too) to help out the family of Philadelphia hardcore dude Robby Redcheeks.
Both shows are at the U.Church. The first show is a 1:30 pm and it features Floorpunch, Cold World, Have Heart, Bitter End, and Let Down. The second show starts at 7pm and has Floorpunch, Blacklisted, and Trash Talk. Both shows are All Ages and both are $15 each but remember that this is a one time only reunion and a benefit concert so dig out your classic Nikes and your X Swatch and practice those windmills. Intro Bust = You’re Moshing!

Um… yeah, we’re still a band (last time I checked). Funny you should mention that
’cause the show that night was actually the 15th anniversary of our first show (Halloween ‘92).
