Philadelphia Weekend Picks!

This weekend pretty much has something for everyone. You’ve got your indie-rock nerd shows, your dance-til-you-puke DJ events, your Mexican wrestling, your eternal salvation and enlightenment…you get the idea.

FRIDAY

Tha punx need to cruise over to the UChurch for the legendary Subhumans + World Inferno Friendship Society, Toxic Narcotic, and the excellent Witchhunt. All Ages. 7:30pm. $12.

I already gushed about the Circle, Endless Boogie, Birds Of Maya show at the Latvian Society (7th and Spring Garden). It’s pretty much the Fun Vampires sure shot lock for show of the weekend. All Ages. 8pm. $10.

Here’s a weird one: Transit is hosting a Vice Magazine and Colt 45 party called Turbo Station with:

And finally, And Dim Sum are back Upstairs at the Khyber with Spin the Bottle. Gordon Bombay, M Dot, and The Asian Ranger get nice on the ones and twos. 9pm. Free.

SATURDAY

Sing 108 songs to yourself at the Ratha Yatra - Festival of India at noon in Love Park. Don’t forget to grub on the free food, holmes. Vegan? Check!

Later that night you can get your Lucha Libre on in South Philly with some Mexican wrestling!

After that, head to the Internation House (i think!) for Exhumed Films presents a night of TEENAGE REBELLION!

SUNDAY

Remember hardcore matinees? I do! Well there’s one today at 3:00pm. A kind of Municipal Waste Thrashaholics pre-party show for the diehards of Philadelphia. The First Unitarian Church has a THRASH METAL SHOW! Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust, Gunna Vahm. All Ages. 7:30pm. $10.


Grown folks that don’t like metal can head to Johnny Brenda’s for yet another excellent show: Bat For Lashes and Lewis and Clark. Listen to the entire Lewis and Clark album before you go. 21+ 8pm. $10.
