For the past few Fridays I’ve been slacking on these chilling at the beach. Today I am still slacking chilling at the beach but Pie brought her komputer and we’re somehow accessing the interweb. I’m gonna keep these picks short and sweet because it’s almost two pm and I already have a few beers in me and now I need to go work on my sunburn.
FRIDAY

Pop Punk always sounds better in the summertime. Head over to the Church (21st and Chestnut) for what looks to be the most fun show of the weekend…a Fun Vampires sureshot: Armalite, The Ergs!, Pink Razors and The Steal. Plus, it’s close to a lot of different Philly punx birthdays so maybe there will be some (vegan) cake. Even the Philly City Paper digs this show. All Ages. 8 bones in advance / 10 day of show.
After the show, head to Fuji Mountain to do some karaoke with tha punx or hightail it to the Khyb and head upstairs to dance to the music as Skipmode holds it down on the one’s and two’s with the Futureshock Illvibe hip-hop electro shit. Free
SATURDAY
Ok, first off is Making Time at Transit. $10 free PBR. It’s Dave P.’s birthday so buy him a drink.

You have to hit Deep Sleep (54 N. 3rd st) for the absolutely free Robby Redcheeks photo exhibit jawn. Devil children unite! (If you don’t know then keep posing hard…)
Bust over to Upstairs at the Khyber and dance to the disco and italo sounds of Hip Replacement with Mike T, Stepchild and Billy Werner + special guest Sharegroove (NYC, yo)

But, my pick for the evening is Philadelphyinz with special guest Cousin Cole (NYC). Apt One and Skinny Friedman are vinyl killers and Cousin Cole is a certified remix genius. That’s a bold statement but it’s true. He’s done a bunch of stuff in the last year that has really put him on the map remix-wise. Peep these remix jawns: Charlotte Gainsbourg, Fat Joe and them bols ,and Cassady. This is his first Philly show so come out and show some love. The jernt is at the Medusa Lounge (21st and Chestnut) and it is god damned motherfuckin’ free!
SUNDAY

Birds of Maya are the motherfucking truth, maaaaaaan. They are playing at Tritone on Sunday with the excellent Home Blitz and Gay River. Maybe Roman Numeral Richie and Max Mil are DJing in between bands, too.
OK, that’s it for now. I’m goin’ to the beach.
