Straight Edge Goes Commercial

August 3rd, 2007 by Samuel Venuti · 6 Comments

So I’ve been searching the web for awhile now for footage of Straight Edge in the news media. I’m specifically looking for the 48 Hours and 20/20 reports from the mid 90’s and the local Philly news affiliate coverage (I remember they were in the now long gone C.I. Records store off
South Street) that aired a couple years later . So far I have come up empty handed on those particular pieces but I have come across numerous douche bump inspiring gems. Apparently, someone made a couple of PSA’s for Partnership for a Drug Free America. Whether they aired or not or if they are legit I have no idea. What particularly raises the bumps for me is the reciting of Minor Threat lyrics by your Ray Cappos and other scensters. Here they are for your viewing pleasure

Peep the Excursion Records ad featuring a Slowsidedown 7″ (!?)

This one’s got a Jersey HC spin to it.
