I am an Apple Computers kind of a guy. I have (but never use) an ipod, I’ve had 3 powerbooks, a powermac, I use a macmini at home and an imac G5 at work. But let me tell you this, the iphone is a piece of garbage. Sure it looks kind of pretty on the outside. But what ole Steve says is “revolutionary” is in fact way way behind the times. First of all it’s 5-600 bucks, ouch. The iphone does not have 3g, it relies on AT&T’s edge network which is extremely slow compared to other networks’ data transfer protocols. The iphone does not even have a way to copy and paste text!!!!! that alone should be a deal breaker. apparently the only way to type on the touchscreen is with one finger at a time or else you’ll just be mashing a lot of words like this “asdhf fho anbks” because the touch bleeds. It doesn’t have IM, it doesn’t have GPS, it doesn’t allow developers to make programs for it except over the slow, EDGE crippled web. you can’t make a ringtone with your mp3’s either. So you’re stuck with the few applications apple gives you. You can’t even send a picture you take with it’s lame 1.3 mp camera via text (mms). The same camera doesn’t allow you to take any video either. You can’t remove your SIM card to transfer numbers of phones. There’s no removable/expandable memory either. And if your battery dies you’re up shit’s creek without a paddle my friend because that sucker is built in, ala the ipod. My question is can this phone even do anything well?

My 2 year old Nokia 6682 has thousands of applications, i can even play Nintendo and super Nintendo games on it! I can copy and paste text, duh of course! i can email, text, mms, bluetooth, whatever i want with pictures. i can take crappy videos, edit them, send them, whatever. i have any IM client i want to use and i can even send pictures over that. i can type easily with standard t9 with no problems. I can listen to mp3’s and many other formats of music and i can even make those mp3’s into ringtones. I can unlock my phone, change out my SIM card and use this phone on other networks and in other countries. All this with a 2 year old phone i got for $100.

So in my humble opinion the ipod can suck deez nuts. Maybe in a few years they’ll catch up to 2005.
