Yeah, I know that it’s old news that this place has actually been re-opened for business with new management and a fancypants new menu for about a week now. I’m not writing this to celebrate the opening. I’m writing this to say goodbye.
Look, I’m sure that the new Silk City is kinda sorta like the old Silk City but after listening to this KYW newsclip I feel like I probably don’t wanna set foot in there (Dig the ill subtle and not so subtle disses!). It’s cool, though. The new owner probably has no interest in ch33p goofball subculturey types like me and my friends.
Anyway, R.I.P. my favorite bar ever. It was truly an honor to DJ there a few times. Maybe someday I’ll drop in to the “new and improved” for a drink or some chow. Maybe.
Peep the old Silk City Diner menu here and think back to drunkier times spent hoping that you don’t puke into your huevos rancheros and Vanilla Coke.

i truly loved the old silk. one of the few places this hermit would venture to once in a blue moon. i loved the old look and i loved the hot waitresses and jukebox.

in related-ish news, melrose diner changed ownership, without closing a day [or an hour for that matter] and without changing a thing.
