Yes!  A holiday weekend!  The weather is looking good.  I’ve got the grill prepped and ready and a full fridge of beer.  It’s time to have fun!

Friday, May 25th

Making Time is turning 7 years old and is kind of the obvious pick but I am going to keep it gully and say that Upstairs at the Khyber is the place to be on Friday night because the younger upstart night called The Straight Dope is celebrating 2 years!  The Seclusiasis crew always bring the fire and this party is always off the chain.  FREE!

Then, head over to Fluid and get your bunnyhop on.

Saturday, May 26th

215 Hip-hop presents Beats & Rhymes at The Khyber.  Live on the Beats: DJ Jay Ski (Skratch Makaniks), Mercury, Chum the Skrilla Guerilla (DemiGodz), & Luke Raws (Kontra). Hosted by: iCon The Mic King & The Mighty Flipside.  10 bucks.  21+

Upstairs at the Khyber is going to be live too!  Apt One and Skinny Friedman are Philadelphyinz and theyare celebrating the release of their new mixtape!  Plus, Apt One is celebrating a birthday.  Plus, Mike T. is the illmatic special guest DJ.  Free!

Maybe you can’t get to the Khyber.  Maybe you need a break from there.  If so, head to the Medusa Lounge for the ever-awesome Bleached BlackAJ Ready Right is the guest so you know you will be smurfin’ and  pop lockin’.

Sunday, May 27th

Get thee to the Starlight Ballroom because RAMBO are breaking up and KTMWQ are getting back together (one show only, yo!). Pretty much RAMBO have flown under the radar yet done more that pretty much every indie act in Philadelphia. Mike Mckee wrote about it so you know it’s going to be awesome. What’s not awesome is Mckee editing my excellent stagedives out of the live bonus footage on the KTMWQ cd!

R.A.M.B.O. (last show ever)
with:
World Inferno Friendship Society
NYC’s disturbingly cult-like, circus-related, Halloween-tent-revival orchestra, THE WIFS toothily and engagingly explain in carnevalesque, gypsy-punk, original Broadway production numbers how you-yes, you-can go from a simple understanding of Zen and the Art of Breaking Everything in this Room to throwing Just the Best Party.

Paint It Black
You know the deal by now! Featuring Dan Yemin and Dave W. from Kid Dynamite / Lifetime. As well as Andy Nelson and Josh Agran from AAJ. Mile-a-minute passionate raw real deal hardcore punk. Jade Tree Records.

Drop Dead
Smashing out the fast shit since 1990. Vegetarian, antiwar, antifuckingbastard. A mix of crust punk, d-beat, power violence, and thrashcore from Rhode Island

Caustic Christ
Caustic Christ has one of the most unique “sounds” in current hardcore because they mix the bass heavy drive of Swedish crust with the high octane thrash of American Fast Core. The lyrics and music sound so aggressive and pissed off the speakers can barely contain the rage. Havoc Records.

Pisschrist
Crusty, D Beat, DIY punk rock chaos from Australia.

Witch Hunt
After a move to Philadelphia and bolstering their sound with a second guitar, Witch Hunt build on their previous sound, combining elements of traditional anarcho punk with more modern crust, and male/female vocals. The most noticeable difference is the much more powerful sound, likened to Tragedy and From Ashes Rise.

Vegan food will be available.
Folks will surely be selling records and stuff
At The Starlight Ballroom
