Yes! Often we talk about Philly bands on here but Philly labels need love too. The Philadelphia based record label No Quarter is run by our friend Mike Quinn. It’s weird to be proud of your friends but I am really proud of Mike. He works like 80 hours a week driving a van so that he can release music that he loves. Pretty much everything No Quarter has released has been interesting and inspiring and the new Burning Star Core record is no exception.

BxC are droney and noisey awesome. The No Quarter release, “Operator Dead…Post Abandonded” finds Burning Star Core (led by violinist C. Spencer Yeh) as an extremely loud four piece who waste no time and get right down to business creating massive, looping, head-splitting drones and titanic walls of sound. Calculated and controlled; the intensity builds and builds only to crash down into free-noise, psychedelic fury, sounding something like the universe imploding in on itself, only captured inside a run down Kentucky recording space.
Pitchfork dug the new record and gave it a nice write up.
Head over to No Quarter HQ to purchase the new Burning Star Core. Hell, buy a few other cd’s and act like you’ve been down since day one.
