Throw Some D’s - Remixed!

March 22nd, 2007 by Labuda · 5 Comments

You know that Rich Boy song that is on the radio every five seconds? The one that Kanye flipped the topic on for a (probably) unofficial remix?

Well, Philadelphia homeboy DJ Skipmode has a free club remix of the same song for you! Throw some ‘bows after the jump, yo.

I went to college with Skipmode and I think that he is probably one of the more under-rated dj talent’s in the city. And, this city has a LOT of talent. I remember being at a party on Chew Street forever ago and watching this dude behind a makeshift dj booth just going bananas with 2 copies “Earth People.”

Somehow his group of friends and my weirdo group of friends merged into one big, awesome crew. Skipmode would get asked to man the turntables at some random party and we’d all bumrush the entire set…a full on gang of b-boys, punx, hippies, north and southwest ‘trash’ (shout to Frog, shout to Dirty Mcguire, shout to Bob Fatbags) and other assorted La Salle outcasts. Believe it, we were a mob. If some frat guy messed with one of us, he messed with all of us. And, most times they found out that they were messing with the wrong crew. Crackden represent.

Anyway, like I said, Skipmode is a siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick dj. He can get technical with weirdo pikl skratches if he has to or he can command a party and rock it all night long. The guy is truly a dj’s dj and a genuine music fan. Oh, for the punk rockers, he used to live directly behind stalag13!

Grab this mp3 and see for yourself: “Throw Some D’s - Skipmode Club Remix”

Be sure to check out Skipmode and the rest of the Ill Vibe Collective whenever they are playing out in the city. They always come correct.

Don’t sleep on Electric City, the Philly based hip-hop group featuring the Mighty Flipside and DJ Skipmode.

Finally, buy this Skipmode mixtape. It’s one of the best early 80’s hip-hop, electro, bass whatever joints I’ve heard in a long time. And, keep an eye out for DJ Skipmode’s exclusive remix EP called “Transfusion.” If it isn’t out now, it should be out soon. We got a leak of it and it is hype!
